Online Gift Shopping Tips – Things to Know

2 May 2010 No Comment

As the internet slowly takes over the world, and everything we do is transferred online, the process of buying gifts for friends and family members will continue to shift towards the web. In the past 5 years the entire shopping industry has jumped on the internet and it’s here to stay.

Many “conventional shoppers” are accustomed to shopping at malls and browsing products on shelves, though this isn’t always best. Why? Well, I’ll explain.

For one, there have been many times in the past that I have wanted to purchase an item at a department store but they were out of stock. The stores offered to order from another location for pickup the next day, or have it *shipped to me*. If I drive to the mall, deal with parking, then I find out that the product I want needs to be shipped to me, I might as well have stayed home and ordered through the internet. Sometimes it’s just a big waste of time and as we all know time is money.

Secondly, shopping via the internet is green and eliminates excess shipping and travel. No driving to the mall, no driving home, no shipping from the manufacturer/warehouse to the department store, etc. Shopping online reduces your carbon footprint and in essence helps preserve the planet.

Lastly, regarding pricing, it is known that the best prices will always be found online. Since it’s so easy to compare products and pricing, companies know that they must be competitive with their prices. This means that shopping online equates to more money in your pocket or a better gift for the amount you are intending to spend.

I hope this information has been helpful!

Sincerely,
Memorable Gifts
